Nancy Mladenoff, USA »Birds, Bugs and Plants«
This installation consists of a variety of plywood-shaped paintings of native and non-native species from the Northern Highland-American Legion State Forest. Northern Wisconsin serves as the habitat to a rich and varied number of species of birds, insects, and plants. As a result of climate change and an overall increase in population, our flora and fauna have undergone considerable ecological upheaval. A global economy brings with it unexpected changes in the footprint of a place as remote as this forest. The paintings highlight some of these species and their interrelationships.
